Recensione (da Gamefaqs):
CITAZIONE
If, a couple years ago, I was told that people would be playing Court Simulation games in a few years, I'd laugh. Courts aren't obviously the most fun places to be in, and the possibility of making an enjoyable game that takes place in such location is just unlikely. However, the "Gyakuten Saiban", aka. "Ace Attorney", series has been quite successful in such a task, presenting an enjoyable game that works almost as a real court. Now, Capcom comes up with yet another unlikely theme for game, a secret pearl that players may also enjoy.

As odd as it may seem, "Kabu Trader Shun" is a game about the Stock Market. Yes, that's right, this is a title where you must buy and sell stocks from fictional companies. Playing as Shun, an 18-year-old whose father (also a stock trader) disappeared five years before the time this adventure takes place, you'll start with simple tasks, such as buying and selling stocks in order acquire a certain amount of profit.

As you may suppose, the gameplay would consist only of buying and selling stocks, requiring merely two buttons. So, some more features had to be added to the game, in order to make it more pleasant but slightly unrealistic. As you advance in the storyline, you'll get some extra functions that help you in your basic task, such as a line that marks the average value of each stock, or ways to know the maximum (and minimum) values which they have taken.

If that's not enough for you, the game also presents Trading Arts, special cards that can only be used from time to time, which affect the flow of the stock market. Some allow a specific stock to go instantly up, others prevent your opponent from managing his stocks for a limited time. There are many others for players to enjoy, each of them bearing an unique and useful purpose.

If you're thinking that such a gameplay would make this game boring, you're right. After a while, you'd be fed up of performing the very same task all the time. In order to solve this problem, Capcom added several human opponents to the game. While some of these confrontations simply put you to gain more money than your current opponent, others provide you with more difficult targets, such as winning (or selling) more than your opponent. Besides, since your opponent can also use infamous Trading Arts, this game could be a lot more interesting than it is.

Not even the addition of a map, which you can explore to confront other people and advance in the game's storyline, makes it any better. Unlike it happens on Capcom's famous "Gyakuten Saiban", the exploration permitted in this title is mostly unimportant, too predictable and usually leading to information that you're likely to discard. Such lack of interest, which tends not to affect the most important part of the game, is slightly disappointing, as it can be considered as nothing more than a simple accessory to the game's main features.

As your adventure unfolds, you're likely to unlock stocks from more companies, which you can later trade. Also, defeating more opponents and achieving certain targets allows your character to win some experience, eventually improving his stats in a way that doesn't seem to affect the gameplay. You may take quite a while to complete the game, but those won't be amusing times. Instead, you'll face hours and hours of charts, noticing the advance of stocks and trying to sell (and buy) them at the best possible time. Bearing in mind that the algorithm that manages stocks appears to be fully random, your advance is hard to predict and hardly amusing, allowing you to crush your opponent at a specific point in time, just to be crushed by that very same character five minutes later.

In graphical terms, the game is nothing special. All characters were given an anime-like feel, a feature available in many other titles of this console. Animations, usually seen when you use Trading Arts, are surprisingly good, and despite not showing any astonishing material, they fulfil their task. Besides, as most of your time will be spent looking at bi dimensional charts, something that could be mimed in weaker consoles with similar results, I doubt you can consider its looks as good.

When it comes to the sound, this game is just repetitive. Apart from many bad themes, It contains one or two catchy tunes, which will be heard several times. That makes them old quickly, preventing players from enjoying them and turning their former beauty into an eventual disappointment. Trust me, after a few minutes of play, you'll be turning them off.

While no knowledge of Japanese is required to play this game, I strongly advise Western players to stick away from it. Not being able to understand the language may prevent you from fully enjoying some of its features, like Trading Arts, and doesn't justify the money you'd be paying to import it. However, if this game is ever released in English, that would turn this innovative title into an interesting choice for those who want a different gameplay experience, despite not being a perfect title.
