Il team della Gateway 3DS ha deciso di rilasciare una beta pubblica del nuovo firmware per la propria flashcard, versione 2.0b1.

Abbiamo pensato che postare un altro video di presentazione avrebbe fatto arrabbiare piuttosto che impressionare i nostri impazienti e fedeli clienti. Perciò nello spirito del Thanksgiving, vogliamo mostrarvi la nostra più sincera gratitudine per la vostra pazienza e il vostro supporto, rilasciando anticipatamente una beta pubblica!
Il firmware GW 2.0b1 aggiorna la compatibilità con tutti i giochi, ad eccezione dei 2 titoli conosciuti basati su salvataggio NAND (i quali verranno supportati molto presto), così come arriva la tanto attesa funzione emuNAND. A completare questi grandi progressi è il nostro nuovo menu di sistema accessibile semplicemente tenendo premuto il tasto L mentre si tocca l'icona "Profilo" (all'interno di "Impostazioni generali") sul touch screen. Per questa versione abbiamo cercato di rendere la moltitudine di opzioni il più automatizzate ed intuitive possibile, e siamo lieti di ricevere altri feedback dai nostri utenti per quanto riguarda il menu, le impostazioni e altre opzioni per le prossime revisioni.
Dite che abbiamo dimenticato alcune funzioni? Beh, se fosse così facile allora altri le avrebbero già, o potrebbero creare falsi video di questi proclami... comunque stiamo divagando... Sia il supporto ai giochi con salvataggio NAND, che ci farà ottenere ufficialmente il 100% di compatibilità con tutte le ROM conosciute, che il supporto multirom in FAT32 (drag and drop) sono ormai prossimi al completamento entrando nella nostra fase di beta testing interno. Come potete immaginare, entrambe queste caratteristiche richiedono un importante rinnovamento del firmware interno del nostro hardware, cosa che sapevamo ed avevamo previsto fin dall'inizio, quindi state tranquilli, a differenza di altri GW3DS è completamente aggiornabile. La nostra politica è e sarà sempre di assecondare i nostri clienti assicurando loro di aver speso bene i loro soldi. Ci rivolgeremo molto presto ai nostri beta tester per farci aiutare durante gli stress test in preparazione del nostro prossimo grande passo!

Avviando la Gateway verrà ora automaticamente verificata la presenza della partizione emuNAND e, se presente, verrà utilizzata quest'ultima. Abbiamo anche incluso la possibilità di avviare il sistema in modalità Classic che consente di avviare le cartucce originali tramite emuNAND, permettendogli di funzionare come un normale 3DS montante firmware più recente.
Se la partizione emuNAND non viene trovata, il sistema verrà avviato normalmente e la modalità Gateway sarà come nel firmware 1.x.
ATTENZIONE: NON TENTATE MAI DI AGGIORNARE LA NAND DI SISTEMA, ASSICURATEVI DI AGGIORNARE SOLO LA EMUNAND - SI PREGA DI LEGGERE ATTENTAMENTE LE SEGUENTI ISTRUZIONI!
Ci siamo impegnati tanto per assicurare la stabilità e l'affidabilità della emuNAND, anche se emuNAND non è strettamente necessaria per la piena compatibilità con ogni gioco. Per quelli che desiderano avere l'ultimo firmware di sistema perfettamente funzionante con il nostro prodotto, per favore seguite attentamente le seguenti istruzioni.
Prima di iniziare: assicuratevi di avere la console completamente carica oppure con caricatore collegato. È anche consigliato disabilitare il Wi-Fi e cancellare ogni connessione memorizzata prima di procedere.
1) Avviare il menu Gateway e selezionare l'opzione "BACKUP SYSTEM NAND". Seguire le istruzioni sullo schermo per avviare l'operazione di backup. Ciò richiede un minimo di 1GB di spazio libero sulla scheda SD del Nintendo 3DS, e saranno necessari circa 10 minuti. Ogni console ha una NAND univoca e se si aggiorna accidentalmente la NAND di sistema attualmente non c'è alcun modo conosciuto per tornare al firmware 4.5 via software. L'unica possibilità di ripristino sarebbe quella di ripristinare tutto via hardware utilizzando il backup dell'immagine della NAND come ultima risorsa. Quindi per favore assicuratevi di copiare fisicamente il file creato tramite il nostro tool dalla scheda SD all'hard disk del computer.
2) Assicurarsi di aver eseguito il backup di qualsiasi altro file necessario presente nella scheda SD del vostro Nintendo 3DS, oppure utilizzare una scheda SD vuota per eseguire la formattazione emuNAND dal menu Gateway. Una volta fatto questo (occorreranno circa 5 minuti) ed utilizzando la scheda SD su cui l'avete eseguito, la Gateway si avvierà dalla scheda SD appositamente partizionata e mostrerà la scritta "GW3D" accanto alla versione del software di sistema nelle Impostazioni della console.
Una volta entrati in Impostazioni della console ed essersi accertati della presenza della scritta "GW3D" vicino alla versione del software di sistema, entrare nelle impostazioni WiFi e impostare una connessione.
3) Aggiornare la partizione emuNAND. Avviare in modalità Gateway, ed andare in Impostazioni della console. ACCERTARSI della presenza delle lettere GW3D accanto alla versione di sistema nell'angolo in basso a destra dello schermo superiore. Se si vede solo un numero di versione "Ver." si prega di uscire ed eseguire nuovamente il punto 2.
Se invece vedrete "GW3D" X.XX.X (dove le "X" stanno per la versione del vostro software di sistema) potete procedere all'aggiornamento della console andando in Impostazioni generali e scorrendo a destra fino a raggiungere l'ultima pagina, dove troverete il pulsante Aggiornamento.
IMPORTANTE!! .. Aggiornare SOLO da Impostazioni della console e SOLO dopo essersi accertati della presenza della scritta "GW3D" davanti al numero di versione del sistema!

PUBLIC BETA RELEASE OF GW 2.0B1
We thought posting yet another teaser video would anger rather than amaze our patient and loyal customers. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we would like to show you all our sincere gratitude for your patience and support, by releasing a public beta early!
GW 2.0b1 enables up to date compatibility, barring only the 2 known NAND based titles (for which support is coming very soon), as well as the long awaited emuNAND feature. Complementing these great advancements is our new GUI menu system accessible by simply holding down the L button when tapping on the DS Profile button on the touchscreen. For this release we have tried to make the plethora of options as automated and intuitive as possible, and we welcome more feedback from our users regarding the menu, settings and other options for in the coming revisions.
So we left a few things out you say ? Well if it was so easy then others would have it already, or might falsely make videos of such claims .. anyway we digress .. Both nand saving, which will officially make us 100% compatible with all known roms, and FAT32 (drag and drop) based multirom support are now close to completion and entering into our internal beta testing. As you can imagine, both these features required a major revamp of our hardware's internal firmware, something we had known and planned for from day one so rest assured, unlike others, GW3DS is a fully featured and FULLY updatable hardware design. Our policy has and will always be to stick by our customers and ensure they get value for their money. We will be calling on our beta testers shortly to help us stress test our next big step !
Release notes:
Booting into Gateway mode will now automatically check for the emuNAND partition and emulate the system NAND using this partition. We have also included an option to boot into Classic mode that enables genuine retail gamecards and the emuNAND functionality, allowing it to run like a regular 3DS on latest firmware.
If the emuNAND partition is not found, we fall back to the system NAND and boot into Gateway mode as in 1.x
WARNING NEVER ATTEMPT TO UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM NAND, MAKE SURE YOU ONLY UPDATE EMUNAND - PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY !
We have gone to great lengths to ensure the stability and reliability of emuNAND, even though emuNAND is not currently required to allow full game compatibility. For those wishing to have the latest system firmware running concurrently with our device, please follow these instructions carefully:
Safety preparation: Please ensure you are either fully charged or plugged in to the charger before beginning. It is also advisable to turn off WiFi, and remove any stored WiFi access settings before proceeding.
1) Launch the Gateway menu and select the "BACKUP SYSTEM NAND" option. Follow on screen instructions to start the backup operation. This requires a minimum of 1GB free space on the Nintendo 3DS SD card, and will take approximately 10 minutes. Every console has a unique NAND image and if you accidentally update the onboard system NAND then there is currently no known way to restore back to 4.5 through software means. The only recovery option is to restore via hardware using the backed up NAND image as a last resort. So please make sure you physically copy the file created by our tool from the SD card to your computers hard drive.
2) Make sure you have backed up any other files you may need from your Nintendo 3DS SD card or use a fresh new SD card to run the Format emuNAND step in the Gateway menu. Once this is done (approximately 5 minutes) and for as long as you use the specific SD card, GW will boot from the specially partitioned SD card and show the "GW3D" label in the system version number in the System Settings application.
Once you have entered into the System Settings application and clearly seeing the "GW3D" version number, enter into WiFi settings and set up a connection.
3) Update your emuNAND partition. Boot into Gateway mode, and enter into the System Settings application. CHECK to make sure you see the letters GW3D before the system version located in the bottom right hand corner of the top screen. If you only see a version number "Ver." please exit and perform step 2 again. With the "GW3D" X.XX.X version number verified proceed to update the console by going to Other Settings and scroll right to the last page and press the System Update button.
IMPORTANT !! .. ONLY ever update through System Settings and ONLY when you have double checked the "GW3D" lettering in front of the system version number !!
